Whereas ÐӰɵ¼º½ is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion as principles of excellence in learning, research, teaching and service;

Whereas ÐӰɵ¼º½ recognizes African Nova Scotians as a distinct people and acknowledges how they have shaped this province and University over centuries;

Whereas ÐӰɵ¼º½ celebrates the contributions of all people of African descent and values their integral role; and

Whereas ÐӰɵ¼º½ understands that we must learn from our past in order to create a truly equitable institution today and for future generations:

I do hereby proclaim the United Nations International Decade for People of African Descent at ÐӰɵ¼º½ and will take action to implement the Decade themes of recognition, justice, and development.
