Research Accelerate
The Faculty has submitted 30 applications for Research Accelerate Program, including two Research Chair positions. We expect to hear the results of this competition by the end of this week.
The Faculty has submitted an NSERC CREATE Letter-of-Intent (Collaborative Research and Training Experience Program), led by Dr. Lada. It would bring together several Dalhousie faculties and researchers across the country. The title is, “SAFE RISK: An NSERC CREATE Training Program in Interdisciplinary Risk, Science for Sustainable Agriculture, Food and Environment (SAFE)â€
Congratulations are also extended to graduate student, Wasundara Fernando, under the supervision of Dr. Rupasinghe, was awarded the Cancer Research Training Program (CRTP) traineeship award valued at $17,850 from the Beatrice Hunter Cancer Research Institute. This is the first time the award has been given outside the Faculty of Medicine.
Strategic Research Plan Update
Following acceptance of the plan by Faculty Council, The plan is undergoing minor revisions which will include the addition of an implementation plan. The plan is expected to be finalized by June 6th.
Aquaculture Workshop
The Faculty of Agriculture will host a meeting of researchers and staff at ÐӰɵ¼º½ with an interest in aquaculture research on May 27th. The aim is to understand the capabilities in aquaculture on the two campuses and to foster greater research collaboration.
Potatoes
The Faculty will also host the PEI Potato Board on May 20th for a discussion on strategic research directions for the industry.
McCain Foods Initiative
Over the last six months we have had discussions with McCain Foods (Florenceville, NB) regarding several collaborative research projects, as well as assisting with their global training needs. The next meeting will be in Florenceville the first week of June with researchers and extended learning.
