Study Abroad

Students interested in getting a global or comparative perspective on politics may be interested in international student exchange programs. These are usually undertaken in a student鈥檚 third year, but it may be possible to do an exchange at other times. It鈥檚 always a good idea to consult with the Undergraduate Advisor and/or Honours Coordinator before you sign up for an exchange program鈥攖o make sure that your plans for study abroad will fit into your academic program requirements.

The university maintains an International Learning Experiences page, which provides info about different options for study abroad, including details about eligibility, application processes, deadlines, etc.

The Political Science department also has a relationship with the UIBE China Exchange Program. In May 1997, the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) was put on the list of 鈥淧roject 211鈥 universities, a governmental program aimed at turning 100 Chinese universities into high quality academic institutions in the new century. Since then, UIBE has become a first-class multi-disciplinary comprehensive university in the fields of economics, finance, management, law, political science, and literature, with a particular emphasis on specializations such as international trade and economic law, business administration, and foreign studies. Dalhousie Political Science students (both undergraduate and graduate) are able to participate in a semester-long exchange at UIBE, which is situated in the northeast part of China鈥檚 capital Beijing.
